Salomon x wave ski boots1/31/2024 ![]() ![]() the foot mold does get a little thin after a season of riding but not uncomfortably. Very durable puts up with lots of wear and scratching. Spaceframe technology boots have a huge appeal for racers. the foward flex is forgiving if you push it but otherwise very sturdy. The X Wave 8.0 offers Salomon's Spaceframe technology, a shell construction that softens the external part of the shell (those hex patterns) for precision and fluidity along your turns, and reinforces the instep for better power transmission. I got mine on end of season sale and still paid a lot of money The clear shell design is pretty money, and the weightsaving hexagonal cutouts are pretty cool too.Īll ski boots are ridiculously expensive, but if want quality you gotta put out. I would recommend that you get a little softer boot all around if you plan on spending alot of time in the park. I got pretty good shin bang after doing park for a while since there was nothing else to do this season in Utah. the stiffness and the thin tongue are not to forgiving when jumping and/or spinning. ![]() ![]() I love to ski park and do big jumps, spins and rails, but this isnt the best boot to do them in. Steeps, trees and BC they feel very light and responsive, you jsut have to make sure you pay attention to the boot thinning out after a few runs, the park however is a different story. I have rode these on just about all terrain and can say they are super solid. As far as weight, they are pretty light as boots go but walking or hiking around the mountain will help you to remember you got ski boots on. I didnt realize how effective the boot strap could be in securing your leg to the boot. the boot strap especially I found very helpful. they are very snug and comfortable, the sturdy buckles and large boot strap make sure of that. These have been the best most responsive boots I have owned. at first they were a bit to snug at my great toe but I had the toes blown out 1-2mm at a pro shop and it was pretty cheap. I wear a size 10 shoe comfortable so with the boots I went with a 8.5. If you do not get footbeds you will be hurting. superfeet work great for a cheaper than custom fit. Overall a great stiff boot for advanced skiers looking for good control and responsivness.įirst off I have to say, although it may be obvious, you have to get aftermarket footbeds. If you have big legs dont even bother trying salomon boots, as far as I can tell they are made for average to thin legged people, and same for the toe box. Top Scores Closure System 4.0, Forward Flex 3.9, Skiing Comfort 3.Great ski boot for almost anything, little stiff and thin for park though. ![]() Wax found it “highly sensitive, without the onerous fit of a race boot.” Con Cuff rises high on leg. “This one could put us out of business,” joked master bootfitter Denis. The 3-D instep buckle does a great job of personalizing fit, and the liner earned high marks for comfort. Like the Falcon/Scarlet, the XWave/Rush shell is softened on the lateral (outside) wall in a way that makes it less precise, so the inside ski feathers more easily. Those who are a little more laid back favored the ゚ber-comfy XWave/Rush, feeling the tradeoff in power was acceptable. Testers who are fit and aggressive liked the Falcon’s hair-trigger response and vacuum-packed fit. Pro Chocolate or vanilla? The Falcon/Scarlet (see above) and the XWave/Rush finished with similarly high scores the choice is a matter of taste. Heading out the door?
